Board & Advisory
The boardroom is where complexity either becomes strategy — or stays noise.
I serve as an independent board director and advisory board member for organizations navigating three transitions at once: technological (AI moving from briefing topic to governance capability), strategic (business models and innovation agendas meeting new realities), and generational (ownership and leadership changing hands). My governance experience spans the two structures that define today's board agenda — public companies and family-controlled groups.
Mandates
Three structures. One discipline.
- 01
Non-executive director
Full board membership: fiduciary, strategic, and human. Committee work and chairing welcome — I currently chair a Business & Digital Transformation and Innovation Committee, leading an applied-AI agenda at the chairman's request.
- 02
Advisory board member
Lighter structure, senior counsel: quarterly sessions, monthly access, no fiduciary formality — often the right first structure for family groups and scale-ups.
- 03
Board-level AI capability
Not implementation consulting — governance: helping the board itself become capable of overseeing, questioning, and directing AI as chairman-level agenda.
Why succession sits at the center
"Weigh the past,
choose the future."
Only four in ten boards are confident their CEO succession positions the organization well — the weakest score in all of governance, and weakest of all in Europe and North America (Heidrick & Struggles, 2026).
Generational transition is where my three worlds meet: governance discipline from public boards, family-dynamics fluency from family groups, and builder's realism from backing 30+ startups and mentoring 1,000+ founders since 2010.
Grounding
My perspective on technology governance comes from practice, not reports: I found and build AI ventures myself — including Board Companion, a governance-intelligence product — and before boards, 21 years in banking built my foundations in risk, credit, and oversight. Advisory experience spans the US (Marketplace Risk, 2023–24) and startup boards across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia.
